Timeline Overview

In the Production Editor, click the Timeline button.

Timeline View displays all of a production's elements ~ video, images, music, narration, overlays, color panels, titles, captions, special effects, and so on ~ across a timeline, which shows the time measurement in Hours, Minutes, Seconds, and Frames.

All of the elements that can be added in Storyline View are easily added, as well, in Timeline View.

Timeline View displays additional tracks to which you can add more images, audio, video, special effects, overlays, and so on.

You can Show or Hide any of the tracks in view or add more tracks to the Timeline, by clicking on Show/Hide Tracks button and selecting or deselecting tracks.

You can use the scroll bar at the bottom of the window to scroll through the Timeline, and use the Playback Head to scroll back and forth through the production.

Zoom in and out using the Zoom slider.

Adjust the position of elements in the Timeline by clicking and dragging, or shorten them by selecting and dragging their ends. Right click on elements to access additional options.

Aid line up of elements on different tracks by turning on Snap Objects: Click on the Snap Objects icon (alternately View > Timeline > Snap Objects). This can help line up objects by snapping one element to line up with the start or end of another element. With Snap Objects turned on, whenever the start or end of the element you move lines up with the start or end of another element, a red line appears. For overlapping elements, turn off Snap Objects.
